Knee replacement surgeon india

Knee Replacement Surgery Types:

Total Knee Replacement:

Total knee replacement removes all weight-bearing, damaged knee cartilage and bone and replaces it with a man-made metal or plastic prosthetic joint that mechanically replicates the knee function. In total knee replacement, a highly polished strong metal alloy replaces the femur portion of the knee joint; a strong durable polymer tray replaces the tibia portion of the joint, and more plastic replaces the kneecap or patella. Surgery usually takes 1 1/2 to three hours.

Partial Knee Replacement:

Partial knee replacement, or unicompartmental knee replacement, is the choice if only one part or compartment of your knee is severely damaged and requires replacement rather than the entire joint. An implant for either the femur portion, tibia portion or patella portion is surgically inserted through a smaller incision. If two or more compartments of the knee are damaged, the partial knee replacement may not be the best treatment choice. Hospital stays are generally shorter--perhaps even overnight.

Minimally Invasive Knee Replacement:

Newer minimally invasive knee replacement, or MIS, uses specialized surgical techniques that allow a 3- to 5-inch incision rather than the standard 8- to 12-inch incision. The smaller incision provides for recovery with potentially less scar tissue formation, less pain, and a faster healing period. Hospital stays are from one to three days.

Revision Knee Replacement:

Revision knee replacement is for removing and replacing a prosthetic knee joint that is worn out or that has failed. Revision knee replacement surgery can be repeated multiple times, but scar tissue formation from previous knee surgeries can make the procedure increasingly difficult with each replacement event.

Computer Assisted Surgery:

Knee replacement using computer assisted surgery, or CAS, is a computer-driven technology that uses computer guided imagery during surgery. The computer aids the alignment of the knee components during the surgical procedure and renders the alignment more accurate. The high level of accuracy may increase the longevity of the total knee replacement.

Bilateral Knee Replacement:

For those who have both knees equally affected by cartilage damage and decreased mobility, bilateral knee replacement is an option. Both knees undergo any of the above mentioned knee replacement type surgeries at the same time.

After Knee Replacement Surgery:

Usually the first day after knee replacement surgery, you'll begin to work with a physical therapist who will teach you exercise to regain full leg and knee movement.

During your hospital stay, you'll attend physical therapy one to two times a day. An occupational therapist and nurse discharge planner will help you prepare for your return home.

Your doctor may recommend a continuous passive motion (CPM) machine that bends and straightens your knee.

You may be given special elastic stockings to reduce swelling. An anticoagulant medication, such as lovenox, also may be administered to help circulation and prevent blood clots.

Recovery after Knee Replacement Surgery:

Recovery varies with each person. You will use a walker for approximately 4 weeks after the operation. You can drive a car in 2-4 weeks.
Most people gradually increase their activities and may play golf, doubles tennis, shuffleboard, or bowl in 12 weeks. More active sports, such as singles tennis and jogging are not recommended.
After discharge, there is usually no need for a nursing home. Some patients who live alone may require a short stay at a rehab center for a few days after they leave the hospital. This will depend on how you progress in the hospital, and keep in mind that healing and recovery times vary with each person.

Knee Replacement Surgery Follow-up:

During the first year after surgery, routine follow-up visits are scheduled with your orthopedic surgeon at three weeks, six weeks, three months, six months and 12 months. You'll be asked to return for annual visits to assess the status and function of your implant.

Knee Replacement Longevity:

Following things affect the longevity and success of your knee replacement:

Avoiding repetitive heavy lifting

Avoiding excessive stair climbing

Maintaining appropriate weight

Staying healthy and active

Avoiding "impact loading" sports such as jogging, downhill skiing and high impact aerobics

Consulting your surgeon before beginning any new sport or activity

Thinking before you move

Avoiding any physical activities involving quick stop-start motion, twisting or impact stresses

Avoiding excessive bending when weight bearing, like climbing steep stairs

Not lifting or pushing heavy objects

Not kneeling

Avoiding low seating surfaces and chairs

Knee Replacement Surgery Benefits:

After knee replacement surgery patient is relieved of the pain he/she associated with the knee. Some of the benefits of Knee replacement surgery are:

Pain Relief:

When arthritic joint surfaces are re-surfaced as in the case of a knee replacement; implants made of a combination of metal and high density polyethylene plastic are fixed onto the prepared surfaces. Since the original, arthritis-laden joint surfaces have been removed and replaced with metallic and plastic materials, the original joint pain, caused by the exposed bone, no longer exists. This gives the patient a considerable reduction or even elimination of pain.

Improved Mobility:

When the joint anatomy is rough and irregular secondary to advanced arthritis, the ability of the joint to move smoothly is limited. Frequently, overall range of motion can be severely limited due to joint surface irregularity as well as the presence of excessive fluid production. Total knee replacement can largely restore range of motion.

Improved Quality of Life:

When a person is no longer burdened by chronic, debilitating pain and joint motion has been vastly improved, the quality of life is improved as well. Most patients visiting a surgeon's office for consideration of a knee joint replacement have endured longstanding pain and functional impairment. A successful joint replacement can return the patient to leading a normal life.

Knee Replacement Surgery Risks:

As with all major surgical procedures, complications can occur. Some of the most common risks following knee replacement surgery are:

Infection

Stiffness

Loosening

Osteolysis

Knee Replacement Surgery Alternatives:

The following are the alternatives to Knee replacement surgery.

Specialized Braces

Arthroscopy

Cartilage Transplantation

Osteotomy

Uni-compartmental arthroplasty

Arthrodesis or Knee Fusion

Knee Replacement Surgery India:

Due to the high costs of knee replacement surgery in the United States, the waiting lists in the United Kingdom, Australia and Canada and the lack of high tech medical procedures in many third world countries, medical tourism is expected to blossom into a ten billion dollar business world-wide. Recognizing this trend Indian government, large corporations, hospitals, and doctors are flooding the Indian medical tourism market with choices, and prices are dropping.

India boasts volumes of its excellently maintained healthcare providers by stringent government controls on the policies for control of promotion and advertisement, thus not visible much in news papers, magazines and electronic media. But certainly as good as other regional healthcare providers like Singapore and Thailand.

India is as competitive as Singapore in the quality of healthcare, through it world class facilities of hospitals and clinics, latest machines in healthcare and more over world class renowned surgeons and doctors that it has more in number then any regional healthcare providers.

Knee Replacement Surgery in India

Knee replacement surgery also known as knee arthroplasty is procedure to replace the weight-bearing surfaces of the knee joint to relieve the pain and disability of osteoarthritis. It may be performed for other knee diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis and psoriatic arthritis. The procedure has been proven to help individuals return back to moderately challenging activities such as golf, bicycling, and swimming. Total knees are not designed for jogging, or sports like tennis and skiing (although there certainly are people with total knee replacements that participate in such sports). Knee replacement is a routine surgery performed on over 600,000 people worldwide each year. Over 90% of people who have had Total Knee Replacement experience an improvement in knee pain and function.

Knee Replacement Surgery Candidates

A person would be considered a candidate for knee replacement if there is:

Daily pain

The pain is severe enough to restrict work, recreation and ordinary activities of daily living

Significant stiffness in the knee

Significant instability (constant giving way) of the knee

Significant deformity (knock-knees or bow-legs) that hinders normal function of the knee

Damage from arthritic conditions, such as osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis or post-traumatic arthritis

Success Rate of Knee Replacement Surgery:

Knee replacement surgery is recognized as a miracle of modern surgery. Most orthopedic experts consider replacement to be the best method of handling arthritis in the knee. Knee replacements have literally put hundreds of thousands of Americans back on their feet and allowed them to enjoy their golden years.

Knee Replacement Surgery Preparations:

If you smoke, cut down or quit. Smoking changes blood flow patterns, delays healing and slows recovery.

If you drink, don't have any alcohol for at least 48 hours before surgery.

Ask your doctor for pre-surgical exercises. If you are having hip or knee replacement surgery, doing exercises to strengthen your upper body will help you cope with crutches or a walker after surgery.

Your primary care physician or an internist will conduct a general medical evaluation several weeks before surgery. This examination will assess your health and your risk for anesthesia. The results of this examination should be forwarded to your orthopaedic surgeon, along with a surgical clearance.

Shortly before your scheduled surgery, you will probably have an orthopedic examination to review the procedure and answer any last-minute questions.

You may need to take several types of tests, including blood tests, a cardiogram, a urine sample and a chest X-ray.

Advice your surgeon of any medical conditions you have and of all the medications you are taking. You may need to stop taking certain medications or your surgeon may recommend substitute medications until your surgery. Medications such as corticosteroids, insulin or anti-coagulants will need to be managed before and after surgery.

Home loan in gurgaon

Taking a home loan has become easier. Enticing advertisements and easy installment plans may be tempting you to avail a loan every now and then.

Well of course, you deserve to possess a house of your own. And the Indian banking and finance industry too supports your aspirations. The cumbersome process of taking a home loan in India has been simplified a lot and you no longer have to run from pillar to post to get it approved for yourself.

Nevertheless, the eligibility criteria are also rationalized and anyone can plan to avail a home loan by fulfilling the bottom lines.

But then the key question arises as to whether you should take a home loan or not. It certainly is a long term assessment. After all you should not fall in a debt trap in any case.

Hereon we discuss on the softer side of the matter that is usually ignored amidst the fancies of buying home loan, but turn critical in nature.

How much?
As a thumb rule, your Equated Monthly Installment (EMI) on home loan should not exceed by 40 per cent of your net monthly income. Net income is meant by the disposable income left after all statutory deductions like insurance premium, income tax, PF contributions, and other obligations towards mutual fund SIP (Systematic Investment Plans) etc.

Thus if your monthly income is Rs 20,000 and net income comes to Rs 15,000, your monthly home loan installment should not exceed Rs 6,000 (40% of Rs 15,000). The rest is assumed towards your routine expenditure.

Our suggestion
Though 40% is a standard, we advise you to keep it below 25% of your present net income. Reason- you should have reserves to meet some unforeseen situations. It may be healthcare or financial affairs or any unexpected expenses under the sun.

Future Planning
A large number of people project hike in their incomes for future and make decisions based upon estimations. It’s good to be positive.

But you may enter into troubled waters in case things move in opposite direction.
Also, the home loan is a long term liability, usually between 10-20 years. In this period, your income may keep on rising but so do your liabilities and expenses. What should you do then?

Our suggestion
Suppose you expect your present monthly income of Rs 20,000 to Rs 30,000 a year after, you plan your EMI as per present income only.
Later when your projections turn into reality, you can either re-work your EMI with your bank or invest the additions into other prolific investment options.
This way you can balance your liabilities and at the same time remain stress-free on spiraling burden of EMI, which could form in case of failing estimations.

Final words
We hope that the above discussions will prove beneficial to you and help you work out a well planned home loan transaction, safe and happy.
We’ll continue bringing such information and insights on home loans for you, on regular basis. So be in touch.

Coaching Centers in India for challenging maths problem

Often, when people mention difficult math, they are referring to advanced math. I would agree that there is some correlation between those two things, but they are not the same. It is possible to find examples of relatively easy math problems that rely on relatively difficult concepts, and vice versa. For example, the current New York State Integrated Algebra Regents Exam is easier than a list of the topics that it covers would suggest, because of the way that many of the multiple choice questions are structured (more on this topic in a future blog posting). On the other hand, New York Academics’ Very Challenging Math Worksheets (available at shop.tutornewyorkcity.com) are much harder than you would probably expect if you only knew that they are a collection of problems involving fractions, decimals, proportion, simple number theory and similar topics.

Doing math is more than simply learning and applying a set of algorithms. It can also involve creative thinking, estimating, organization, and persistence. A fairly simple example is this word problem: A dog has six puppies. Each dog (young or old) has 15 fleas. Each flea has six legs. How many legs are there? (*The answer is below). In theory, everyone who can multiply and add whole numbers should be able to easily solve this problem. Nevertheless, many students who are competent in the required arithmetic still get this problem wrong because they lose track of where they are in the middle, or they forget to include the mother dog, both of which are examples of how organizational skills are important in math. Sometimes less confident students panic when they see a problem like this one and resist making any attempt to solve it (an illustration of how important persistence is).

The problems included in the Very Challenging Math Worksheets are more difficult (some of them are much more difficult) than the above example. Nevertheless, the principle remains the same. For example, the next problem is a moderately difficult problem that is found on one of the Very Challenging Math Worksheets. (**The answer is below.)

The Acme Doodad Factory employs 500 people. 80% of them are factory workers who make $55,000 per year. 12% are office support staff who make $45,000 per year.  % are management who make $95,000 per year. Everyone else makes $250,000 per year. What is the mean salary at Acme Doodad Factory?

Finding the solution to this problem requires an understanding of percents and mean (specifically, weighted mean). It also requires that students have the ability to stay organized and calm through a problem that has many steps and some unattractive numbers (i.e., a fractional percent). While all of these topics are theoretically covered in standard middle school math curriculums, only a relatively small number of middle school students are able to correctly solve this problem the first time they see it. (To be fair to middle schoolers, many high school students and adults aren’t much better off.)

In my experience, the main things most kids need to solve challenging, multi-step problems like this one is more guided practice. Mathematically gifted students are more likely than other children to be given problems like this, and I certainly approve of these kids being challenged, but average students also get very real benefits from exposure to challenging, non-routine math problems, too (as long as they get enough support and encouragement along the way!) Doing this type of math problem helps develop the ability to think in a logical but flexible way and organize information. It also helps to build the persistence necessary to work through situations where the path to a solution might not be immediately obvious. As a bonus, the ability to do these kinds of problems can help children get into gifted and talented programs (such as Hunter College High School, the Anderson Program, Specialized Public High Schools, and the Center for Talented Youth at Johns Hopkins) and can help adults have a wide range of career choices open to them. Is the Lokpal bill will help in erdicating corruption from india

he move comes as a safer strategy for the Congress-led coalition government, as the main Opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the communist Left Front have reportedly expressed their dissent against the draft approved by the Union Cabinet on Tuesday.

By designing it as a statutory Lokpal, the government can ensure a smoother passage of the law allowing minimal scope to the Opposition of holding up the anti-corruption law that has taken the centre-stage in Indian politics for many months now.

Media reports quoting unnamed sources said that government's move to keep the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) separate from the proposed ombudsman under the Lokpal Bill has not been welcomed by the BJP.

The right-wing Hindu nationalist party is also unhappy with the domination of government members in the search committee for the nine-member Lokpal (ombudsman) and also seeks a change in the selection panel for the CBI Director.

As per the government’s draft of the Lokpal Bill that is set to be tabled in the Lok Sabha on Thursday and in the Rajya Sabha on Friday, not only has the CBI’s autonomy been retained, there has been no move to merge either its prosecution or investigation units with the ombudsman.

Instead, the Lokpal has been mandated to have its own inquiry and prosecution wings implying that it will not have any police-like powers to investigate and will be a quasi-judicial body.

However, it will have the power to monitor all graft-related cases referred by it to the CBI and, following the completion of investigations, its prosecution wing will put them up for trial in its own courts.

Corruption crusader Anna Hazare rejected these provisions of the Lokpal Bill on Tuesday, slamming it as the government's “betrayal” and said he would go ahead with his planned hunger strike campaign demanding a strong anti-graft law for three days, starting Dec 27.

However, the three-day fast warning was widely seen as a climb-down from his earlier stance of going on an indefinite hunger strike, although Hazare did say his India Against Corruption (IAC) group were also planning a Jail Bharo (Fill the Jails) movement from Jan 1, 2012.

"The government has gone blind....it can't see the problems and worries of the people. Crores of people have asked them to bring the Lokpal Bill....it can't hear them also because they have gone deaf. So let the government go its way and I will go my way,” he said.

“I have decided that for three days I will fast along with my fellow mates and after three days I will go on jail bharo (court arrest) for three days and following that I will go to the five poll-bound states and campaign there," Hazare said on Tuesday evening.

The government also risks a stronger, more popular backlash if it fails to get the Lokpal Bill passed within the Winter Session of the Parliament that ends on Dec 23, since parties like the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and the Shiv Sena have vetoed a move for an extension.

The weathered government, battered by scores of corruption scandal exposes and scathing opposition attacks, hopes to dodge public ire as seen in April and August this year, from an increasingly impatient middle class galvanised by Hazare’s campaigns against corruption.

Love Horoscope Reading 2012

When the impulsive soul of Aries meet another blazing soul of Leo they get so instantly connected to each other that their fires become almost impossible to separate. Leo is the only sign that makes me-centered Aries to give up its desires and look out for fulfilling rather than demanding.

Both Arians and Leos like to share and taste power. In fact, they can listen to other people and their mind. Arians are very appealing and cajoling while Leos are charismatic and lively. Both of them learn to enjoy life to the fullest possible extent. Leos are the real lions and they want to taste the best of life while rams support their counterparts in all possible manner. Only thing that bother them is the perceived shortage of money for the things they need to buy and purchase.

This pairing brings together two super-sized egos, but can be harmonious if they learn to co-rule the relationship. When dating, Aries likes the chase, and Leo won't mind being pursued, especially if it means being treated like royalty. The proud, hard-to-win air of Leo only spurs the Aries on to greater shows of desire. These two are stars on the town, and have a lot of stamina to keep the party going late.

The monthly love horoscope compatibility of an Aries man and Leo woman will be great and they will happily share the limelight with each other. He loves adventure and she will be happy to join him. He loves to explore life and she will always like to be admired by new people in novel territories. Drama and excitement reign supreme when a Leo woman teams up with Aries man. This astrological combination is powerfully potent. There will be no lack of compliments as both of them hold back nothing.

Just like the Aries man and Leo woman relationship, the reverse, which means the Aries woman and Leo man relationship is also one of the best only matched with Leo Sagittarius combination. Both would be extremely confident and both will like to explore and it will also result in a romantic chemistry between the two lasting for substantially long period.

In conclusion, the great thing about Aries and Leo is that the two signs really do provide mutual benefits. When properly balanced, the relationship can improve both people involved. Each partner can, in essence, heal the others deficiencies.

However, like many other relationships, the Aries Leo relationship requires both partners to co-rule the relationship effectively. If one becomes too dominant, it can cause serious strain. However, when balanced correctly, the relationship will be exciting, active, and passionate.
